The decision of Penza City Duma members to decline the statement of early resignation submitted by mayor Roman Chernov, made during the 51st sessions on Friday, May 24, can only be described as “theater of political absurd.” This opinion was expressed by the first secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party, the member of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region Georgy Kamnev.

“There gathered serious people, who are well aware that there is a statement. Why did they persuade him to stay as if he were a little girl? If he made a decision, then let it be so. This is political absurd,” the agency interlocutor said.

Georgy Kamnev also expressed doubt about Vyacheslav Satin remaining vice mayor.

“There is an opinion that being a deputy to Roman Chernov is one of the most inadequate positions. Vyacheslav Satin has good reputation in the Penza region, and this position is very unpleasant. Now he is pressed for time, it is not clear what to do next,” the leader of Penza communists said.

According to him, the return of Vyacheslav Satin as vice governor of the Penza region is theoretically possible.

“Ill-considered steps taken by Roman Chernov put many people in a very uncomfortable situation. As we already noted, he is not always adequate, which is proved by the situation with his resignation — the man even cannot leave as normal people,” Georgy Kamvev stated his point of view.

He concluded that the situation on the regional political scene suggests that the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev does not fully control it.
