Penza mayor’s decision on resignation not approved by City Duma deputies

Penza, 24 May 2013. PenzaNews. The deputies of Penza City Duma declined the statement of early resignation submitted by mayor Roman Chernov, made during the 51st sessions on Friday, May 24. As the correspondent of news agency PenzaNews reported from the City Duma hall, 24 deputies out of 25 attending the session, voted against.

Before the voting procedure several deputies voiced their position on the decision of the head of administration of Penza Roman Chernov. Most of the deputies appealed to the fact that the city anniversary is approaching, and leaving the position in such a period is quite irresponsible, especially when there is only one and a half years left till the new elections.
The final point in the discussion before the vote was put by the head of Penza Yuri Alpatov.
“Everyone has a limit. Find the strength to work, delegate part of duties to your deputies and us,” Yuri Alpatov said.
After the vote, the head of Penza administration Roman Chernov immediately left the City Duma hall.
As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, on Monday, May 20, the mayor of Penza Roman Chernov submitted an official statement on the early termination of his powers.
