Penza, 28 August 2013. PenzaNews. Penza branch of the Interregional Association of Communists (IAC), which still does not have official registration, addressed the representatives of political parties, public organizations and mass media to contribute to the content of oppositional newspaper “Rabochaya Demokratiya” [Workers' Democracy] scheduled for publication during the upcoming period before the mayor’s and Duma elections of 2014.
“The proposed circulation of regional output is 20 thousand copies once a month. The newspaper is designed specifically for the pre-electoral time and will almost entirely be devoted to the political life of the region,” states the open letter written by the establisher of IAC Mikhail Yakhkind and the editor of the regional newspaper “Rabochaya Demokratiya” [Workers' Democracy] Pavel Arzamastsev.
The letter notes that the first edition of the newspaper is scheduled for the end of the next month — when the results of elections held on September 8, will be announced.
“Although our newspaper is left-wing, it will welcome all political parties and public organizations of Penza and the region, which, for various reasons (financial or censorship) were not able to publish their articles in the existing media,” the letter goes on.
Mikhail Yakhkind and Pavel Arzamastsev claim that the new newspaper in Penza “is the only truly oppositional and uncensored,” but note should be taken that if a publication “does not correspond to the basic ideas of our newspaper, the printing is possible only with our editorial comments.”
