Penza, 30 May 2014. PenzaNews. Businessmen, who constitute the majority in Penza City Duma of the fifth convocation, are not interested in improving the lives of ordinary citizens. This opinion was expressed by the first secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party, the member of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region Georgy Kamnev at a news conference held at the press center of news agency PenzaNews on Friday, May 30.

“We are strongly opposed to the situations when candidates try to deceive, mislead the voters. Let's look at the current and previous Duma compositions — these are big businessmen, large owners. They now own almost all housing and communal services in Penza, ranging from the production of heat, water distribution, billing of the population and so on. Also, there are representatives of transport,” he said.

According to Georgy Kamnev, in such a situation, City Duma does not need actual discussions of important questions, and suggestions are made unanimously or at best with minor amendments.

Penza communist leader explained that the election campaign of the Communist Party for the elections to the City Duma, to be held on September 14, 2014, will be built on concrete proposals to improve the situation in the city economy.

“We will simply take the best practices that can be implemented here, not trying to make more money. We do not have people who would be guided by their own interests among our candidates and our deputies,” he stressed.

Georgy Kamnev added that the lack of personal interest in case of winning will allow the Communists to pursue independent policy designed to improve the lives of Penza residents.
