The new head of administration of Penza, the appointment of who is included in the agenda of the 64th extraordinary session of the City Duma, scheduled for Friday, July 18, will serve as city manager for at least two years, announced mayor Yuri Alpatov after the meeting of the competition committee on Tuesday, July 15.

Commenting on the procedure of examination of the three nominees for the post of mayor of Penza, Yuri Alpatov noted that the competition committee had no objections on this issue.

The mayor of the city explained that the questions asked to each participant of the contest — the chairman of the regional government Yuri Krivov, the deputy director general of “Compass Finance” Alexander Frolenkov and the deputy director general of “Penzalift” Vladimir Belyakin — were chosen strictly according to the established rules.

As a result, the deputies of Penza City Duma will be choosing out of Yuri Krivov and Vladimir Belyakin, while Alexander Frolenkov did not enter the next round of struggle for the seat of city manager.

The head of the city said that the contract with the new mayor will be signed on Saturday, July 19.

“You know that we must publish the decision of Penza City Duma, and the decision shall enter into force after publication,” he said.

Yuri Alpatov also commented on the possibility of additional competition for the position of the head of administration of Penza in connection with the election to the City Duma, scheduled for September 2014.

“It depends on the decision of the deputies. But I would like to stress that the new head will be leading the administration for at least two years,” the head of the city said.
