Penza, 18 July 2014. PenzaNews. Yuri Krivov, who was chosen the head of administration of Penza regional government during the 64th extraordinary session of the City Duma, named a clear and timely delivery of information of public interest to residents one of his main goals on the new position.

“We need to eliminate ignorance. Problems arise when there is information, and someone wants to establish a monopoly on it. Anyone who has information has many tools for manipulating processes. Therefore, we need to disclose information, make it public, bring many things to light, and then there will be less suspicion, stereotypes and barriers between the authorities and the people. If we make steps in this direction, we will not be afraid of any pipes or holes in the driveway,” Yuri Krivov said during a press conference held after the announcement of election results on Friday, July 18.

Comparing his new post with the previous one, he noted that the tasks of the head of the city administration have much in common with the work of the chairman of the regional government.

“It is not about the status. Basically, it is the same job. One ancient philosopher said: ‘The city is not the walls. It is its people.’ I am an expert on people. It is important to build the right relationships within this system, as well as [to establish] its interaction with others, especially in urban communities, residents and businesses themselves. It is important to make these relationships as transparent, understandable and public as possible,” Yuri Krivov said.

Answering the question whether he intends to change the personnel of administration of Penza, the newly elected mayor replied that he is not a fan of radical measures.

However, Yuri Krivov clarified that in the future some people who would not accept the new course of the city management may leave the office.

“I am not a revolutionist by nature and do not believe that people can be divided into good and bad. These borders exist within every one of us. We must improve ourselves and give the others a chance to improve. We will develop, and if along the way someone will realize that he does not share our ideology, than he will have to look for another job. But this is not a monatomic process,” he said.
