Kremlin concerned about early voting in Penza

Administration of the president of Russia is closely monitoring the progress of early voting in the regions of the country and expressed concern about the high number of voters in St. Petersburg, the Nizhny Novgorod and Samara regions, while at the level of the election of administration centers, early voting to Penza City Duma is alarming, RBC reports, citing a source in the Kremlin.

“The concern is a large number of voters. This may affect the legitimacy of the elections,” he explained.

According to the source, a normal level of early voting is considered no more than 4-5%, and for the northern territories — at 15-17%. However, in St. Petersburg, as reported the city election committee reported, the number has exceeded 5%.

According to a source in the Russian presidential administration, the progress of early voting in Altaisky Krai, the Pskov region and Udmurtia are monitored now, where the level of early voting is growing, although it remains within acceptable range.

According to the agency interlocutor, the regions with a minimum level of early voting are Moscow, the Volgograd region, Crimea, Sevastopol, Khabarovskiy Krai and the Chelyabinsk region, and the northern territories — Nenetskiy Autonomous Region and Krasnoyarskiy Krai.

As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, the election of deputies to Penza City Duma on 35 majoritarian constituencies will take place on 14 September.

Early voting started on Wednesday, September 3, and will end on Saturday night.
