Penza, 12 September 2014. PenzaNews. The elections of deputies to Penza City Duma of the sixth convocation, which will be held on a unified day of voting, September 14, are expected to be tense, said Nikolai Taktarov, chairman of the Regional Election Commission, during a reporter conference on Friday, September 12.

He also said that four candidates were removed from the Penza region elections by the court decisions.
“Since the [district] commissions are not entitled to revoke their own decisions on the registration [of candidates], in some cases, they or the candidates filed petitions to the court to their opponents, saying that for whatever reasons the candidate is unworthy to continue his work and participate in the vote. We have such cases: a few candidates lost the right to continue their campaigns,” head of the Regional Election Committee said.
According to him, two candidates were removed due to convictions, one due to violation of registration order, one more for illegal use of intellectual property.
Nikolai Taktarov said that such facts were revealed in Penza, Zarechny and Shemisheysky area.
“Some candidates went to their commissions and wrote letters [of the withdrawal of their candidacy] not waiting for the court. Among them are mostly those with criminal history. The rule is that when such people submit documents to the commissions, they not have the right not to register these candidates. But the information about the criminal record from law enforcement bodies comes with a delay,” head of the Regional Election Commission explained, not giving the exact number of candidates removed.
