“There are up to 50 million people in Russia who pay vehicle tax. Tellingly, the collection system is extremely inefficient. Tax authorities make a lot of mistakes in notices and payment orders. Annually, they register over 12 million cases when notifications are set for a wrong owner name or state a wrong taxation object,” he said, adding that sometimes they require drivers to pay the tax for vehicles which have already been sold.
As Anton Ishchenko told news agency “PenzaNews,” there are more efficient ways to replenish the budget.
“Funds should be sought within the budget system. In the first place, it is reducing the number of officials and conduct of transparent, fair trading. Funds from the land sale should come into the treasury, and not in someone’s pocket,” the agency interlocutor said.
“However, the practice shows that the holes in the budget are much easier patched at the expense of ordinary people,” Anton Ishchenko concluded.
