Addressing the public, Dmitry Filyaev, first secretary of the city committee of the Penza Communist Party, said Vladimir Lenin was a genius who laid the foundations of the Soviet state and showed people around the world the path to free laborers.

“Today we see the ideas of Vladimir Ilyich [Lenin] spreading around the world. China, Vietnam, Laos, North Korea, the Latin countries choose the socialist path of development. This suggests that Lenin’s name is remembered, honored, and his ideas are not just repeated, but implemented,” he said, adding that “Lenin lives in the heart of each of us.”

In his turn, Georgy Kamnev, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, first secretary of the Regional Committee of the Communist Party, noted that on this commemorative day people involuntarily compare the Great October Revolution and the years leading up to it with the current state of affairs in the country.

“The today Russia, like nearly 100 years ago, has been drawn into a global war. Maybe we do not see these victims personally, as it was before. But today, the war is different, it is primarily a war of economies. And we practically became slaves of global capital, consuming the products made for us who take loans. We live our lives basically bound to our oars, working not only to cover the cost of production of these goods and services, but also pay more interest to the capitalists, to get them prosper further,” the leader of Penza Communists said.

Georgy Kamnev expressed confidence that “just like 100 years ago, the old system will get broken and lead to the victory of progressive, naturally, socialist forces.”

According to him, socialism is the only way in a situation when real incomes of the population decreased by almost 50%, prices for food and medicine rose.

Also, the commemorative action was attended by Vladimir Simagin, deputies of the State Duma of the Penza region, representing the Communist Party faction. However, he refrained from speaking.
