During a large press conference held in the regional government on Wednesday, May 20, the head of the region said he cannot yet name his potential successor.
“I know of three candidates. By my knowledge, they all are our people from Penza – not from Saratov, Moscow or elsewhere,” Vasily Bochkarev said.
The governor added that he plans to take a seat in the regional Parliament as a new deputy.
“Simonov is no longer a deputy, but I will take his place,” the governor explained, recalling how he headed the United Russia party list but had not used the opportunity to be a deputy back then.
Also, Vasily Bochkarev announced he has “many offers with exciting salaries,” mostly of representative nature.
“I need to relax a little bit, regain my breath, stay with my wife, be beside my mother. Be a normal man for some time,” added the head of the region.
