The session was chaired by the secretary of the regional United Russia branch, acting governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev, who stressed the attention on actively working in small towns and villages.
“Any political party is rated based on the election results. But the trust of the people is no less important. You were always there to provide your understanding and support. I hope I can rely on you during the election campaign as well. Let us work on it, since the results will depend on our cooperative actions,” he said.
Vasily Trokhin, head of the regional election committee, deputy secretary of United Russia regional branch, gave a report on the process of the primary election for the candidate to the gubernatorial campaign.
“We will be holding the first general election to the governor of the Penza region after a long break, and the party will be promoting its own candidate for the first time. This places great responsibility on us,” he added.
Following the suggestions, the primaries will involve both candidates promoted by civil unions and indeps: those who are not registered as members of the party must be supported by no less than ten active party members with the documents proving it.
The regional office of the party plans to publish all the documents on its website.
“The primaries will be held following the model number three. The vote meetings will take place throughout the month of June at 11 locations, each encompassing several areas. The vote will follow the speeches of the candidates. Half of the voters will be members of the party, another half representatives of civil organizations. Then, we will review the end commission protocol and a list of no less than three winning candidates at the meeting of the regional policy council,” Vasily Trokhin explained.
The offered plan was approved.
The party members also decided to hold a post-primaries conference in early July, says the press service of the regional United Russia branch.
