“Every day I meet the people who live in cities, towns and villages of the Penza region during my business trips, talk to workers’ representatives, activists of civil organizations, veterans and young people. Direct contact with people helps me receive useful information first-hand, ask them for advice, keep an eye on the emotional heartbeat of the society. I think it is these tête-à-tête meetings that are the true sign of openness for authorities,” the head of the region explained in a post in his LiveJournal blog he opened on Monday, June 15.

The official added that he finds particular pleasure in the moments when people from culture, business and social areas invite him for a discussion to tell him about their achievements and plans for the future.

“I always try to find the time to see the fruits of their labor in person to share the positive experience with the others later on. Pride for my compatriots helps me remain confident that together we will reach our objectives and make the Penza region a comfortable and attractive place to live,” Ivan Belozertsev stressed.

However, the direct contact with people is not always a pleasant experience, he noted.

“Often you have to hear out the complaints about the authorities. It is a rare meeting with me that goes without a discussion of current worries of the people in standalone communities and the region as a whole. The populace has many questions to the heads of companies in urban amenities, public transportation, road construction, city improvement, healthcare, education… All these need solutions at various levels of authority and local government. We must talk about them in the open and tell the people about the measures we take. This is why I meet the journalists at events and press conferences and invite them with me on my trips through the region. From the pages of newspapers and websites, from TV screens and radio speakers they help me speak to you, citizens of the Penza region. Today, to expand the potential of our head-to-head communication, I have registered my LiveJournal blog, and I would like to invite you to discuss the issues that are troubling you,” the acting governor wrote.
