“Friends! Rejoice or be sad if you want, but I have news! The LDPR Supreme Council’ve just approved me as the candidate for Penza region gubernatorial election from LDPR. That’s it. Hooray for LDPR! Hooray for Zhirinovsky!” he wrote.
In a phone call with a PenzaNews agency reporter, Zhigansha Tuktarov said the decision was made about an hour before his announcement.
He also commented on the information distributed by the press service of the Saratov region LDPR branch that said Anton Ischenko, State Duma deputy from the Samara region, had been allegedly approved as the gubernatorial candidated by the Supreme Council through an unanimous vote. According to the Penza deputy, the Penza branch of the party is not responsible for that information.
“It looks like they were mistaken somewhere. May be Anton Anatolyevich [Ischenko] did plan to be the candidate for the gubernatorial election, but now he’s changed his mind. It’s nothing [special],” said the LDPR representative.
“There may be only one candidate,” Zhigansha Tuktarov added.
“The candidate promotion conference will be held on the 21st. Yes, I am a single one,” the head of LDPR faction in the Penza City Duma concluded.
