“I returned here in a good mood, as it is always pleasant to get back to your home region. I am thankful to [the acting governor of the Penza region] Ivan Alexandrovich Belozertsev for an invitation to join his team, and I will gladly use all the knowledge and the skills I gotr in the region and on my work for the presidential envoy, here, in my motherland,” Valery Savin told a PenzaNews agency journalist by phone on Wednesday, July 1.

A return to Penza in “an entirely different situation, a new office, a new area of work” will allow him “to expand the horizons and the knowledge, and gain experience.”

“As a deputy chairman of the government and vice-governor, I worked together with local government bodies, mostly solving the issues related to economic development of municipal bodies together with their chiefs. Now it is an entirely different level – I am responsible for the whole region. So I think it is a step forward in my career,” the acting chairman stressed.

Answering the question from PenzaNews agency about his current objectives in the tough economic times, Valery Savin noted that the situation in the Penza region as a beneficiary constituent territory was never easy.

“We don’t have the resources of beneficiary regions, so we will have to improvise in many areas. Obviously, first of all we will work on improving the profits, seeking new sources – they do exist. Ivan Alexandrovich [Belozertsev] already defined the main objectives we should work with. Such as the property in the Penza region. First of all, the land – our main resource that is priced not like we would like it to be. We know of the cases when the cadastre costs are below the actuals. So, I think, we still have the unused reserves that we should locate,” he explained.

Moreover, the authorities should exercise economy “to minimize unjustified spending,” Valery Savin added.

“If we keep working on all these objects, I think we will succeed,” the speaker noted.

Discussing his political party work, Valery Savin clarified that he left the office of the deputy secretary for the regional United Russia party branch a year ago when he moved to Nizhny Novgorod, and currently occupies no leading positions there.

“My main plans are related to the social and economic situation in the region and the work in the government,” he concluded.
