According to him, five out of six potential candidates for the governor’s seat provided the maximum required 283 signatures of regional municipal deputies each.
“These are Vladimir Simagin [CPRF], Zhigansha Tuktarov [LDPR], Vladimir Popkov [‘Rodina’], Gennady Yeroshin [‘A Just Russia’] and Ivan Belozertsev [United Russia],” the speaker said.
The data is currently being investigated, he noted.
“We plan to complete the check of documents from Vladimir Simagin and Zhigansha Tuktarov [who provided them on July 24] and prepare them for the committee session by July 31. Since the last day for the check is Sunday [August 2], the session is likely to be held on Friday,” Alexei Klimukhin explained.
He added that the sixth potential candidate, Alexander Frolenkov from “CHESTNO” political party, did not provide the deputies’ signatures and other required documents to the election committee, and will subsequently receive a decline for his candidacy.
As PenzaNews agency informed earlier, Alexander Frolenkov held a meeting with journalists at the Dzershinsky public garden two hours before the deadline and announced he was unable to gather any deputy signatures in his support.
The Penza region gubernatorial election will take place on September 13, with the schedule of preparation procedures announced in June.
