Viktor Kondrashin elected senator from regional Legislative Assembly

Penza, 11 August 2015. PenzaNews. Professor Viktor Kondrashin, Doctor of History, member of the Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region on social policy, head of the PSU department of “History of Russia, local history and methodology of teaching history,” was elected representative of the regional parliament in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation during the 28th regular session, held on Tuesday, August 11.

Commenting on his nomination, acting governor Ivan Belozertsev noted that the deputies know Viktor Kondrashin well for joint activities in the regional parliament, and the scientific world — for his scientific work.
“He is a well-known scientist not only in Russia, but also in Europe. He is active in the constituency, was involved in many activities on various aspects of life. He is a worthy candidate,” the head of the region said.
He also expressed confidence in the fact that Viktor Kondrashin will actively defend the interests of the Penza region at the federal level, including the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
Viktor Kondrashin was also praised by the deputy rector of the Penza State University Alexander Gulyakov, who noted that the professor will continue to head the department of the university.
According to voting results, the candidacy of Viktor Kondrashin was supported by 30 deputies, 1 abstention.
“We heartily congratulate you on the election as a member of the Federation Council,” Valery Lidin, acting chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, said.
He also expressed hope that the newly elected senator will support “all the good initiatives that are and will be in the Penza region.”
In turn, Viktor Kondrashin thanked the deputies for their trust.
“I put all my strength to justify it,” he stressed.
As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, on May 28, 2015 the regional political council of the United Russia Party decided to nominate Vyacheslav Kosmachev, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, member of the regional headquarters of the All-Russia People's Front, head physician of the medical prevention center, as a candidate for the position of member of the Federation Council, which was vacanted by Lyubov Glebova appointed the head of the Russian Cooperation.
In late May, the senator issue was on the agenda of the 27th regular session, scheduled for June 10, but later it was crossed out in connection with the need to verify the information provided by the applicant.
On July 27 at a meeting of the political council of the Penza branch of United Russia, it was decided to nominate Viktor Kondrashin. On August 5, his candidacy was supported by the Presidium of the General Council of the party.
