Welcoming the capital guests, Ivan Belozertsev said he was glad to see Yuri Afonin in Penza and asked how the parliamentary vacation is going.

“The State Duma is on holidays, but political season is now in full swing,” the member of the presidium and secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party noted.

He said that in some regions Communist Party is actively preparing for the elections to be held on a unified voting day, September 13.

The parties discussed, in which regions the positions of Communists are particularly strong now, and then moved on to the situation in the Penza region.

“I am glad that we have been involved in the preparations for the elections of the governor. All political parties were able to confidently pass “the municipal filter.” I think, this is quite an interesting, equal fight,” Yuri Afonin said.

In turn, Ivan Belozertsev added that he had discussed this earlier with Vladimir Simagin, deputy of the State Duma from the Penza region.

“I know him long enough, we are in good relations. He made a request that the heads of municipalities cooperated — not only not hindered, I do not accept that — but cooperated in organizing campaign meetings. It has been a month and a half since then. We met at yesterday's session of the Legislative Assembly, before that I called him and he said there were no complaints. He gave some written information about one district,” the head of the region said.

Turning to the subject of the forthcoming autumn session of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Yuri Afonin expressed the opinion that “it will be intense” in expectation of the elections to the lower house of parliament, to be held in the autumn of 2016.

Among the most pressing issues requiring fast decisions, he called the overhaul of apartment buildings. After that, the parties discussed the ways of solving the existing problems that are acceptable to the population in general and in particular to the Penza region.
