In particular, the signatures for the document calling for refusing to vote on the election day were provided by such people as Ivan Finogeev of the regional youth civil organization “Modern Age Generation”; Mikhail Yakhkind of the regional branch for the unregistered United Communist Party; Sergei Gorbatyuk of the regional branch for the political party “Civil Initiative”; Ruslan Krasnov, representing the members of the Penza anarchist community; and Alexander Frolenkov, former election candidate for the party “CHESTNO” who was left out of the election campaign after failing to provide any deputy signatures in his support.

In their opinion, free and democratic election requires public pressure on the authorities.

“The top write the candidate lists. The Penza citizens are unable to vote against them as the ballots have no ‘None of the Above’ option. An obvious conclusion follows: the voters are not interested in elections with such rules, as the mere thought of voting makes them revolt,” reads the document made available to PenzaNews agency.

The signed parties “agreed to coordinate their actions” and cooperatively “spread the election boycott strategy among the population.”
