Penza, 20 October 2015. PenzaNews. First secretary of the CPRF regional committee branch, deputy of the Penza region Legislative Assembly Georgy Kamnev, found it unacceptable to increase the salaries of city administration officials at present.

He reminded that shortly before, the leader of the CPRF faction in the Penza city Duma Oleg Shalyapin had learned of the plans to double the salaries for the officials, allegedly to prevent people leaving due to smaller pay compared to for-profit companies.

“The city suffers enormous losses. The communal system is in shambles, as is the public transportation system, many social programs were cut. The administration asks for money from the regional budget to patch at least certain problems. Increasing the salaries for officials not just by 5-10%, but by two times, is just cynical, just like the claim that the city administration workers leave for commercial companies. That never happens during a crisis. On the opposite, commercial companies cut staff. People have to go looking for new jobs, and they would gladly be employed in municipal or state bodies, as they are associated with stability,” the leader of the Communist Party branch in Penza commented.

“If these plans of the city hall do exist, we are ready to lead people on the streets to protest,” Georgy Kamnev stressed.
