The Penza region authorities will continue all measures necessary to preserve peace and conciliation between all nations and confessions living in the land, said the governor Ivan Belozertsev in his comment after the annual Address to the Federal Assembly by Russian President Vladimir Putin, where the head of the state highlighted the importance of ensuring safety and security and called for preventing any outbreaks of extremism, ethnic and religious hatred.

“Countering terror activities in the region relies not only on quick and coordinated work of intelligence and law enforcement services, but also on harmonious relations between people of different nationalities, social and age groups, different confessions. It must become clear for us that terrorists seek to exploit even the smallest discord in the society. They have developed the ways to influence young men, recruit them to their causes, including an active social media campaign,” Ivan Belozertsev pointed out.

He stressed that the Penza region always paid particular attention to protecting the population from external aggression, due to a great variety of nationalities and confessions represented in the land.

“Understanding and unity, mutual respect and tolerance can defeat disruption and hatred,” believes the head of the region.

According to him, currently the region conducts the measures to halt any threats from international terror and extremism organizations, to protect public order and ensure security of the citizens.

“I believe that together we will be able to protect peace and conciliation in the Penza land,” the press service of the regional government quotes Ivan Belozertsev.
