“For three days, economists-liberals and ministers from the government’s economic bloc led by Dmitry Medvedev have been grieving over the improper structure of our economy. During the forum discussions, high-status liberal thinkers and practitioners of liberalism were calling Russia a ‘downshifter state,’ speaking about the wasted ‘fat years,’ the missed opportunities, the lost perspectives. Hearing all that makes you feel strange. The nerve some people have! Weren’t you the very people who had been managing the economy over the past 25 years? Except for a single year thanks to Primakov and Maslyukov (the economy went out from the deepest crisis and moved on to definitive growth thanks to their activities), the whole period of the recent Russia history went with followers of Gaidar policies, strictly following their liberalism dogmas, appointed to head key institutions in economy, finance and audit. And now, when we see the results of this policy, they are holding an economic forum named after Gaidar where they discuss the future of the Russian economy,” Georgy Kamnev wrote on his Facebook page.

He added that the Gaidar reforms were the factor due to which, “the country were losing 30% of its GDP every year in the early 90s.”

“If these ‘economists’ are not stopped, there won’t be much left of Russian economy in the nearest future,” stressed te leader of Penza Communists.

Georgy Kamnev also reminded that the CPRF has been demanding the dismissal of the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the whole economic block of the government since 2012, with 166,000 signatures gathered throughout the country.

“Time once again proves us right, but we need more decisive and systemic steps. Right now, our party is preparing a large roundtable event on economic project. It will take place in the nearest future. I think we must intensify our efforts to create an alternative and make an anti-crisis team to replace the bankrupted Gaidar economists who fared so poorly. Our economic forum will be the focal point of this alternative strategy and alternative team. I propose to name this forum after Alexei Nikolaevich Kosygin, Chairman of the Soviet Council of Ministers,” proposed the first secretary of the CPRF regional committee.

He also pointed out that the sixth five-year industrial plan in the Soviet Union (1966-1970), marked by the economic reforms of Alexei Kosygin, became the best in the Soviet history and was named “golden.”

“Over this five-year period, the national income grew by 186% compared to 1970; consumer goods production – by 203%; retail sales turnout – by 198%; salary fund – by 220%. If you call that a ‘standstill,’ than what words should be used to describe the rule of Gaidar and his students?” asked the leader of Penza Communists.
