Penza governor threatens to fire head regional officials that follow double standards

Penza, 14 March 2016. PenzaNews. The administration heads of Penza region municipalities that follow double standards in their contacts with tenant farmers may end up losing their offices, announced the governor Ivan Belozertsev during the regional government meeting session on Monday, March 14.

“I would like to sternly point out for you that the municipalities do not get enough money from tenant farmers,” he said, adding that “some farmers are enforced to pay in full” while others’ debts “are kept untouched for years.”
“You know what? This is corruption,” the head of the region said.
Ivan Belozertsev instructed the vice governor Valery Savin and the chairman of the Penza region government Nikolai Simonov to keep this issue in mind when preparing a new round of regional area inspections by the taxes and levies committee.
“Please present me [the information] on the inspection, on land use, on current debts and claim settlement activities through the executive office if needed, so that the capabilities would be apparent before the committee arrives,” the governor said.
The activities in this field must be entirely free of any double standards, he stressed.
“Certain municipalities are following double standards. In that case, we will be laying off the head officials,” Ivan Belozertsev concluded.
