Volodin to head regional group incl. Penza region at State Duma election

Penza, 27 June 2016. PenzaNews. The Russian Prime Minister and United Russia party chairman Dmitry Medvedev proposed to include Vyacheslav Volodin, first deputy head of the Russian Presidential administration, in the list of candidates for the State Duma Election. Reportedly, he will be heading the party’s election roster for the regional group No. 15, which will feature the Volgograd, Saratov, Penza and Tambov regions.

The Higher Council and General council of United Russia supported the initiative at their joint session on Monday, June 27.

In addition, the party chairman proposed to include such candidates as the filmmaker and APF co-chairman Stanislav Govorukhin, the Crimean prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya, the Hero of the Soviet Union and renown Antarctic discoverer Artur Chilingarov, the Russian VDV commander Vladimir Shamanov, along with 9 governors and 10 heads of Russian republics.

Those include Ramazan Abdulatipov (Dagestan), Sergei Aksenov (Crimea), Egor Borisov (Sakha-Yakutia), Andrei Vorobyev (Moscow region), Vasily Golubev (Rostov region), Alexei Gordeev (Voronezh region), Yunus-Bek Yevkurov (Ingushetia), Ramzan Kadyrov (Chechnya), Yuri Kokov (Kabardino-Balkaria), Rustam Minnikhanov (Tatarstan), Georgy Poltavchenko (St. Petersburg), Evgeny Savchenko (Belgorod region), Sergei Sobyanin (Moscow), Rashid Temrezov (Karachaevo-Cherkesiya), Aman Tuleev (Kemerovo region), Aslan Tkhakushinov (Adygea), Rustem Khamitov (Bashkortostan), and Vladimir Yakushev (Tyumen region).

At the same time, the candidates roster will not feature anybody from the Russian government, but will feature Dmitry Medvedev himself, and additional candidates in 207 single-mandate election districts, says the United Russia party website.

The decisions of the party’s Supreme Council and General Council are yet to be approved at the plenary meeting of the 15th United Russia convention that is currently ongoing in Moscow.
