After the meeting headed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the governor Ivan Belozertsev commented on the information about the criminal case against the deputy chairman of the Penza City Duma Georgy Tyurin, who is suspected of a bribe-taking attempt on a large scale. This fact became the reason for the suspension of his membership in the "United Russia" faction.

"I work in Moscow today but many mass media ask for comments on the criminal case against the deputy chairman of the Penza City Duma. My position is clear – the law is one for everyone. Corruption is evil that corrodes the state," Ivan Belozertsev wrote on Twitter.

He added that persons guilty of corruption must be conscious of the inevitability of punishment.

"No matter, which post a person occupies and what their political position is. If they are involved in corruption, they must bear responsibility according to the law," the governor of the Penza region emphasized.
