United Russia to nominate Valery Lidin for position of Legislative Assembly chairman

Penza, 20 September 2017. PenzaNews. Delegates of the second stage of the 23rd conference of the regional United Russia department, which was held in Lermontov library on Wednesday, September 20, decided to nominate the secretary of the party's regional department Valery Lidin for the position of the chairman of the Penza region Legislative Assembly of the sixth convocation.

His candidacy was nominated by the governor Ivan Belozertsev.

"He was my first deputy when I headed the Legislative Assembly, and when I was elected governor he became the chairman of the Legislative Assembly. Valery Lidin managed to preserve the traditions that had been established by many forerunners. The Legislative Assembly worked in the best interests of the region, there were no conflict situations. [...] I think that if we put forward the proposal and vote for his candidacy we will make the right choice," the head of the region said.

In turn, the deputy of the Penza region Legislative Assembly Vladimir Kirillov suggested an alternative candidate for the position of chairman. He nominated Vyacheslav Kosmachev, who had occupied the position of deputy speaker of the regional parliament of the fifth convocation.

Turning to those present Valery Lidin stressed that he thought in the work of the Legislative Assembly of the 6th convocation it was important to preserve the gained experience in creating a legal and regulatory framework in all spheres of life.

"I believe that the main objective is to create conditions for further strengthening and development of interaction between the legislative and executive branches of government," he added.

In turn, Vyacheslav Kosmachev noted that United Russia's victory in elections entailed a high degree of responsibility.

"This responsibility must be justified in our daily work," he added.

On the basis of a secret ballot Valery Lidin received 195 votes, and Vyacheslav Kosmachev – 12.

In conclusion, the secretary of the United Russia regional department thanked everyone for the special trust.

"I will try to justify it by honest work in the best interests of the region," Valery Lidin summed up.
