Penza, 26 September 2017. PenzaNews. Deputy Oleg Melnichenko was elected a member of the Federation Council of Russia – representative of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region. A corresponding decision was taken at the first organizational session of the regional parliament on Tuesday, September 26.

The candidacy of Oleg Melnychenko was introduced by the governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev.

He is our fellow citizen, he was born here. [...] He occupied different positions – worked as a teacher, as a deputy head of the Zhelesnodorozhny area administration and as a deputy chairman of the Penza region government. Then, he worked in the administration of the presidential plenipotentiary envoy in the Volga Federal District, was their assistant and deputy. He knows the region as well as the work of the public service and the deputy corps too," the head of the region said.

The governor noted that Oleg Melnichenko was a candidate not only from "United Russia" but "from all political parties".

"I have no doubts that as a patriot of our land Oleg Vladimirovich [Melnichenko] will do everything to help the Penza region in a number of issues," Ivan Belozertsev added.

As a result, the decision to appoint Oleg Melnychenko a member of the Federation Council, representative of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, was adopted unanimously.

In turn, Oleg Melnichenko thanked the deputies for their support.

"I will try to justify your trust. I will be guided exclusively by the interests of the region and do whatever is necessary to make the socio-economic development of the Penza region successful", he said.
