Penza, 26 September 2017. PenzaNews. The secretary of the regional department of the party "United Russia" was unanimously elected chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region of the sixth convocation at the first organizational session on Tuesday, September 26.

His candidacy was introduced by the governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev.

"We all understand that the chairman of the Legislative Assembly will in many ways determine the effectiveness of work. [...] The former Legislative Assembly was headed also by Valery Lidin. You know him well, he is a famous person in our Penza region. He has a great deal of life and professional experience in political activity," the head of the region said.

He stressed that Valery Lidin had successfully dealt with tasks of the speaker of the regional parliament of the 5th convocation.
"He managed to interact with representatives of all political parties in the Legislative Assembly, as well as with social organizations", Ivan Belozertsev added.

The head of the region expressed confidence that Valery Lidin, if elected, would perform his duties in an appropriate manner.

No other candidates for the position of speaker of the sixth regional parliament were proposed. As a result, the ballot papers for the secret voting included only the candidature of Valery Lidin.

The results were announced by the counting board chairman, deputy Alexander Lomovtsev.

"33 ballot papers for secret voting were distributed. After the voting box was opened, there were 33 valid ballot papers and no invalid ones. The following results were determined by counting the votes: Valery Kuzmich Lidin – 'for' – 33 votes, 'against' – 0 votes," he said.

In turn, Valery Lidin thanked the deputies for the confidence they had given.

"I will try to justify it by honest and conscientious work for the benefit of residents of the Penza region", he stressed.
