Penza, 29 June 2018. PenzaNews. It is incorrect to make a comparison between the Velvet Revolution in Armenia in spring 2018 and the Maidan in Ukraine in autumn 2013 – winter 2014, as a result of which dozens of people died. Such an opinion was expressed by journalist of the Armenian regional TV company 9 Alik Tatevik Kostandyan, who is currently in Penza participating in an exchange programme within the volunteer programme for young journalists "The Pomegranate-Birch Cocktail".

"It was a shame when some people said it had been the second Maidan. We always wanted to say that neither America nor Russia nor any other state didn't matter then. Everything we did, we did ourselves. It was something Armenian people wanted. We had a government we did not like. We have suffered a lot," she explained.

Tatevik Kostadyan noted that during the peaceful protests in Armenia there was a positive atmosphere hard to express.

"It was so great, so funny. There was not a single drop of blood, most importantly. Some people were making barbecue in the streets, others were playing a ball, and someone was reading a book. Nobody worked, even some journalists didn’t. [...] When all your people are there, you cannot remain uninvolved. There were a lot of women with babies, they were sitting in the shade with strollers. It was like a holiday, not a revolution. Only some elderly men and women expressed discontent. They needed to get to some place and there was no public transportation since everyone was sitting outside. Later, of course, they were grateful," the journalist shared her memories.
