Head of Penza confirms resigning for post of chief doctor of oncology dispensary

Penza, 1 August 2018. PenzaNews. Penza head Valery Savelyev confirmed the recently emerged information that he is going to resign to take the post of the chief doctor of the regional oncology dispensary, which became vacant after the firing of previous head Vitaly Serebryakov accused of bribery.

"Governor Ivan Belozertsev suggested that I should head the regional oncology dispensary. In the framework of the objectives for health care development set by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the medical facility will undergo a large-scale reconstruction in the coming years," Valery Savelyev's commentary posted on the official website of the Penza City Duma on Wednesday, August 1, states.

It is added that taking the system of oncology patients' treatment to the next level is one of the most important goals of the medical community, which Velery Savelyev has always belonged to.

"The governor outlined the need for constructing new buildings of the oncology clinic including a surgery department. This is what I am going to do at the new post together with other employees," the commentary explained.

Valery Savelyev expressed his gratitude to residents and deputies of the City Duma for joint work.

"I will still remain a deputy of district No. 26 in Penza and will continue to work with my voters," he specified.

It is planned that a new head of Penza will be elected at the extraordinary session, which will take place on Friday, August 3.

As PenzaNews reported before, from 2006 to 2015 Valery Savelyev worked as the head physician of the Penza regional psychiatric hospital named after K.P. Evgrafov.

On December 23, 2015, he was elected as the head of Penza. His candidacy was put forward by United Russia party.
