Putin supports decision of Penza governor Belozertsev to go for second term
Penza, 11 June 2020. PenzaNews. Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the intention of Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev to run again for the post of the head of the federal entity in the elections in September 2020.
During the working meeting, held by videoconference on June 11, Ivan Belozertsev asked the head of state to allow him to go for a second term.
"I want to ask you to trust me and allow me to participate in the election of the head of the region," he said.
In response, Vladimir Putin wished Ivan Belozertsev success, stressing that he has "the moral right" to participate in the election campaign.
"Ivan Alexandrovich, of course, by presenting the results of the work to people living in Penza, you have the right, the moral right, to run for a new term, to be a candidate for the position of the head of Penza region, but of course especially during this period of time you need to work directly with voters, with people, and to show them what has been done. At the same time you should talk objectively about what hasn't been done. Well, and in this regard, of course, it is necessary to show and to prove that you have all the possibilities and a clear understanding of how you will move forward with your team. So I wish you success. All the best," the Russian President said.
