Penza, 28 December 2020. PenzaNews. Governor of Penza region Ivan Belozertsev answered a question about his attitude to Telegram channels at a conference dedicated to the results of 2020, which was held in the regional government on Monday, December 28.

“You know, I trust open news agencies more. [...] If a person writes something there, they understand they are responsible for it according to the law,” the head of the region said.

Ivan Belozertsev added that in cases when the author of a Telegram channel is known, the person, who became the object of a smear campaign, also has an opportunity to appeal to law enforcement agencies and to file a lawsuit.

“Those posts written by closed accounts are paid, it is clear. No one knows who is behind them. We can guess but nothing can be said for sure. When it comes to filing a lawsuit against these people, this is not yet possible,” the governor said.

According to him, he does not read anonymous Telegram channels.

“It has been two years since the press service stopped delivering materials from them. [...] I don't get them and won't anymore. I have the region, I have the people, the citizens who elected me, who commissioned me to work for another five years. I will do this without paying attention to everything that is written there,” Ivan Belozertsev stressed.
