“President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin signed decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. The war has been going on in Novorossia for long 8 years, our fraternal people are drawn into it. Today’s events are a great holiday, birthday of the new independent states – the states of our brothers and friends. This is the hope for an end to war crimes against the civilian population of Donetsk and Luhansk — defenseless women, children and the elderly,” the head of the region wrote on his Instagram account.

“Vladimir Vladimirovich’s decision on recognition was supported not only within our country – the readiness to recognize the DNR and LNR was expressed by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the head of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov. Tomorrow the presidential decrees will be ratified by the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Federation Council. Happy birthday, DNR and LNR!” Oleg Melnichenko added.
