Penza, 18 May 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev asked the members of the meeting in the regional government to provide all-around support for the construction of the Spassky cathedral, and commended one of the deputies who, according to him, donated a sum of 50,000 rubles for the construction during one of the charity events.

“Obviously, giving support is for those who can afford it, but all in all, friends, this is our common goal,” he stressed.

As Ivan Belozertsev pointed out, the church and the authorities rely on assistance from “those able to do it” during the construction.

“Sometimes we even leave more money […] in restaurants, at events […] – 100, 200, even 300 thousand [rubles]. And we think that’s the way it should be,” said the head of the region.

The governor suggested to be more active in organizing various fundraising events for construction of the cathedral, such as charity performances and SMS fundraising.

Also, Ivan Belozertsev suggested to address letters of request for donations to heads of Penza and Russian enterprises.
