Monastery abbot found dead in Penza region
Penza, 15 August 2016. PenzaNews. Abbot Andrey of the Sazansky monastery located in Serdobsky area, the Penza region was found dead at the spring close to the monastery on Monday morning, August 15.
As Serdobsky diocese told PenzaNews, the body of a 41-year-old abbot was found by a woman maintaining the spring area.
Supposedly, death was caused by a heart problem.
Abbot Andrey (in the world Alexander Afanasyev) was born September 16, 1974.
On August 1, 1998 he was ordained a deacon, on August 2 — a priest.
December 12, 2000 he was tonsured.
In 2002 he graduated from the Saratov Theological Seminary, in 2015 - the Moscow Theological Academy.
He was abbot of the Sazansky monastery since its foundation over the past 11 years.
