Penza, 25 May 2011. PenzaNews. The monument to the first dual Olympic gold medalist in rhythmic gymnastics Natalia Lavrova who died in the car accident on April, 23, in 2010, is planned to be erected in Penza until September, 1, 2011.
The Committee of the Penza region of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism said: "The special account was opened for gathering the donations for the monument."
Lavrova Natalia (August, 4, 1984 Penza — April, 23, 2010) is the Honoured Master of Sports.
Natalia Lavrova studied at the Penza school №75 and also she studied rhythmic gymnastics at the specialized school of the Olympic reserve. Lavrova's first coaches were Olga Stebeneva and Tatyana Vasyleva.
As a part of the Russian national team Natalia Lavrova became the world champion in a group exercises on rhythmic gymnastics in 1999, 2002 and 2003, the champion of Europe — in 2001 and 2003, the winner of the international tournaments of a series of Grand Prix in Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands and other countries.
The top of the sports career of Natalia Lavrova became the Olympic games in Sydney in 2000 and in Athenes in 2004. She was a dual Olympic gold medalist.
Natalia Lavrova and her sister Olga Popova died in the car accident on the route Penza — Shemyshejka (the Penza region)on April, 23, in 2010.
