From the beginning of 2011, 574 residents of the Penza region applied to the treatment-and-prophylactic establishments with complaints of the stings of pincers, including 190 children at the age under 14. From the 10th of June till the 16th there were 55 appeals to the regional hospitals from bitten people, 3 of them suffered after walk on the Olympiyskaya alley in Penza.

The press-service of the department of the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights in the Penza region said: "By June, 16th 26 victims who suffered from pincers while walking along the Olimpiyskaya alley were registered. From the 10th till the 16th of June, 6 pincers taken from people were examined on the presence of Lyme infection, one of them was infected".

The source in department said that 596 people were bitten for the similar period of the last year.
