Penza, 27 July 2011. PenzaNews. Adverse situation concerning rabies of animals is in the Penza region this year.

The press-service of the department of Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare in the Penza region said: "For the first half of the year 67 cases of rabies of animals are registered this year. 9 of them are registered in the city of Penza".
In spite of the fact that 11 brigades of catching of homeless animals and 51 brigade of shooting wild animals are created in region, the work of number regulation is conducted insufficiently: 11 wolves and 1 528 foxes were shot in 2010, 12 wolves and 1 788 foxes were shot in 2009, the number of the caught animals reduced considerably.
The press-service said: "Opening of the shelter for the caught neglected animals in Penza is delayed, although the funds were allocated from the regional budget".
The main state health officer in the Penza region Alexander Dmitriev recommended the heads of local government to strengthen preventive measures against rabies of animals and also to provide allocation of necessary assignments for organizing brigades for catching neglected animals, building shelters for them and crematorium furnace for corpses utilization.
