Day of Airborne Forces troupes was celebrated in Penza

Penza, 2 August 2011. PenzaNews. Day of airborne troops was celebrated in Penza on Tuesday, August, 2nd. Celebrating began with solemn meeting at the monument "Broken Star" in Victory Prospect. All gathered people honored memory of victims by a minute of silence and put flowers to the monument.

Then participants of meeting visited a memorial complex of victims in Afghanistan and tombs of died companions from Penza. At 11.00 at this monument a group of 30 former military men of Airborne Forces troupes with flag of Airborne Forces troupes honoured memory of victims by a minute of silence.
Now the area of a memorial complex of natives of the Penza region, victims in Afghanistan, is under the strengthened protection of police officers.
At 18.00 at stadium "May Day" solemn action will be organized where the group of parachutists will perform indicative jumps.
The history of Airborne troops originates on August, 2nd, 1930 — during play-war of Military-air forces of the Moscow military district near Voronezh a division of 12 persons was put on the ground. This experiment allowed military theorists to see prospect of advantage of paraborne division, their huge possibilities connected with fast coverage of the opponent by air. Paratroopers of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus celebrate their professional holiday on August, 2nd.
