Penza, 29 December 2011. PenzaNews. More than 1.5 thousand police officers will provide public order in the Penza region during New Year holidays. The deputy chief of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Nikolay Sarmin informed about it during the press conference on Thursday, December, 29th.

He said: “On New Year Eve 652 police officers and 319 representatives of public formations will work in 159 places of possible crowds. In Christmas night 437 policemen will serve. 149 representatives of public formations will help them”.

Nikolay Sarmin said: “During the period from December, 30th till January, 10th round-the-clock watch of administrative board of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Penza region is also provided”.

According to him, the primary goal of law enforcement officers will be suppression of extremist actions and illegal actions of nationalist organizations, law and order maintenance in celebrating places during New Year vacation.

Nikolay Sarmin said: “The employees of traffic police also should draw duty in the strengthened mode. On entrances to Penza within the next few days three mobile posts will work in round-the-clock mode. They will check the vehicles on presence of the weapon and explosives. On the border of the Penza region cars and buses with numbers registered in republics of North Caucasus will be subject to the strengthened control”.

He also urged all the residents of the Penza region not to lose vigilance during the holidays.

Nikolay Sarmin said: “I want to ask the residents of Penza to observe requirements of fire safety during New Year holidays. It is necessary to watch carefully the heating devices and gas cookers, and to use pyrotechnic products with the maximum care, far from apartment houses. It is impossible walk on ice of water reservoirs as the ice cover on them became fragile because of warm weather”.

Besides, he reminded that the number of swindlers can increase during New Year holidays.

Nikolay Sarmin admitted: “Special attention should be paid on criminals who can get into apartment and fraudulently and take valuable things pretending Father Frost and the Snow Maiden”.
