Zarechny, 13 January 2012. PenzaNews. Recycling bins will be installed in all micro-districts of Zarechny of the Penza region by 2014. This statement was made by Director of the City Department of Natural Resources Tatyana Pchelintseva during a briefing with the journalists on Thursday, January 12.

She also noted that it was planned to install modern waste containers in the micro-districts that have no proper garbage sites.

As Head of the Media Relations Office of the Public Relations Department Tatyana Saltsova told news agency PenzaNews, the programme of selective collection of waste has been implemented in the town since 2011.

In her words, about 7 million rubles were allocated for the implementation of this programme.

“70% [of the funds] came from the municipality, and the remaining 30% from the regional budget,” explained she.

The spokesperson also noted that some 16 sites with garbage containers and 8 sites with recycling bins had been installed in the town to date.

“Waste removal is performed by the personnel of municipal enterprise “Avtotrans” under a strictly defined schedule,” said Tatyana Saltsova.

Director of municipal enterprise “Avtotrans” Nikolay Boyko admitted that the garbage collected separately in recycling bins was not removed separately in exceptional cases, but was taken in a single truckload.

“This happens only when the personnel of municipal enterprise “Avtotrans” see that, for example, recycling bins intended for plastics and glass contain residential solid waste. In other cases all the recycle waste is removed separately,” he asserted.

Among the issues raised during the briefing was the need to expand the facilities and resources of Limited Liability Company “Chistiy gorod” (Russian for “Clean city”) that is in charge of utilization of waste. This need for expansion will arise as a result of an increased number of garbage sites in the town.

“The expansion will allow us to easily sort out and utilize all the collected waste. Today we are coping well with the workload,” noted Director of “Chistiy gorod” LLC Andrey Popoov.

“Over the two months of realization of the programme residents of Zarechny have selectively collected 500 kg of waste paper and 200 kg of plastics and glass which would have taken many years to decompose in the landfill. Now those will be processed allowing us not only to save the environment but also to make money,” he concluded.
