Penza, 12 January 2012. PenzaNews. It is necessary to create a single ambulance dispatch service in the Penza region. This is the opinion expressed by Deputy Chairman of Government, Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of the Penza region Vladimir Stryuchkov in an interview to news agency PenzaNews on Wednesday, January 11.

He noted that the system operating in Israel could serve as an example for organizing the work of ambulance dispatchers.

“The key element there [in Israel] is the dispatcher who determines where ambulance is to go first and where it is to go next. The system which tracks the ambulance teams and their location, including specialized cardiologic, neurovascular and simply special care teams, will enable the timely provision of assistance,” explained the Minister.

Vladimir Stryuchkov said that the creation of a single ambulance dispatch service will help to avoid late arrivals of ambulance teams in urgent cases.

He added that the issue of creation of such a system would be resolved in 2012.

In addition, the head of the ministry considers that some calls received by dispatchers should be redirected to hospitals and clinics that could help patients using their own assets including transport and medical staff in order to improve the efficiency of ambulance work.

Vladimir Stryuchkov also stressed the importance of setting up admission rooms of a new type in the hospitals of the region where the patient could stay up to three days, be diagnosed, receive some medical assistance and then be transferred to a respective specialized unit. According to the Minister, this project is first to be carried out at Penza City Hospital No. 6 and district hospitals.
