Crime rate in Penza region one of lowest in Russia

Penza, 20 January 2012. PenzaNews. The crime rate in the Penza region is one of the lowest in Russia. The deputy chief of the regional Department of the Interior Ministry, the colonel of internal service Vitaly Savka informed about it during board session concerning the results of work of the Department of Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Penza region in 2011 which took taken place on Friday, January 20.

“General crime rate in the Penza region in 2011 has made 1 081 crime per 100 thousand inhabitants. This indicator in our region is one of the lowest not only in ПФО where it is equal to 1 thousand to 628 crimes, but also as a whole across Russia — almost 1,7 thousand crimes,” he specified.

According to Vitaly Savka, in 2011 14 969 crimes were registered that is 11.8 % less than in 2010 when 16 976 crimes were committed.

“In 2011 the number of grave crimes decreased by 13 %, murders decrease is 25 %, rapes decrease is 30 %, thefts decrease - 13 %, robberies - 20,5 %, extortion - 19 %, crimes with a use of weapons decreased by 56 % in comparison with the previous year,” he explained.

Vitaly Savka added also that crime detection rate is 65 % that is 4 % lower in comparison with the previous year.
