During the meeting which lasted over two hours the staff of the news agency took the schoolchildren on a tour of the editorial office and showed them the work stations of journalists equipped with modern computers and electronics and the press centre.

When answering questions of the young journalists editor-in-chief of news agency PenzaNews Pavel Polosin told the visitors about the history of the company, the key stages in the development of its media structure and general principles of the operation of the editorial office.

He asked the schoolchildren to pay special attention to aspects that distinguish the work of correspondents in a news agency from regular journalists and pointed out similarities and differences in the functions of journalists of other regional and federal media outlets.

In addition, the participants of this informal event touched on the issues of social responsibility of the media and journalism ethics.

“The work of most modern journalists is very interesting and different, yet quite challenging. If you are serious about becoming a journalist, have thought through your decision, and plan to receive relevant specialized education and later work for the media, then act. This is your decision, and it is a right choice. But remember that in this case you will assume great responsibility which you will have to perform before the public with honour: to report about significant events in a correct, reliable and timely manner. Only in this case you will have the right to call yourself a journalist and stand for the interests of the people,” Pavel Polosin said.

At the close of the meeting editor of children’s and youth newspaper “Pyatiy ugol” Galina Zelinskaya presented her colleague with souvenirs with symbols of her publication and several issues of the newspaper in a show of respect and hope for further cooperation.
