Molecular-genetic laboratory opened in Penza

Penza, 26 January 2012. PenzaNews. The molecular-genetic laboratory is opened in bureau of forensic medical examination of the Penza region.
According to head of the press-service of Ministry of Health and Social development of the region Tatyana Manukhina, there are about 35 similar laboratories in Russia now.
“The nearest laboratory is in Saransk, Saratov and Samara. However the equipment of our laboratory is much better. 6 million roubles were allocated from the regional budget for this equipment,” he said.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, the analysis of individual genetic differences of people represents the most perfect and exact way of identification of the person which can be used in crime detection and biological relationship determination.
“The smallest quantity of any biological material, such as blood, saliva, pieces of body or hair is enough to make such analysis. In the course of the analysis DNA which does not change during life is investigated and is the unique characteristic of a concrete person,” Tatyana Manukhina specified.
