Penza, 31 January 2012. PenzaNews. Prices for tobacco products will increase by 30–50% in Penza in 2012. Chief of department of the consumer market of Penza city administration Nadezhda Milyaeva informed news agency “PenaNews” about it.

“The increase in excises for tobacco will compel the wholesale enterprises working in Penza to raise quarterly cost prices of cigarettes approximately by 10%,” she specified.

Nadezhda Milyaeva underlined also high increase of prices for tobacco products is not planned and consumers can supervise overestimate cost of cigarettes.

“The price above which retail dealers have no right to sell tobacco products will be still written on each pack of cigarettes,” she added.

According to the head of retail specialized sale of tobacco and smoking accessories “Al Capone” in Penza Vladislav Levin, the increase in excises of tobacco will inevitably reduce the demand for cigarettes.

“Tobacco is not bread and it is possible to live without it. Therefore the essential rise in prices for cigarettes will force chain smokers to smoke less or to give up smoking,” he said.
