Penza, 3 February 2012. PenzaNews. More than 92 % of orphans and children without parental support or 4 334 persons were adopted in the Penza region.

“7.4 % of orphans or 347 children were placed in orphan houses and boarding schools,” informed Anna Leshchenko, the main specialist of the department of information support and analytical work of Ministry of Education of the region.

She explained that the main aim of the bodies of guardianship is to place orphans in families instead of in special institutions.

The interlocutor of the agency noticed that the Penza region takes the first place among the regions of Volga federal district and the fifth place in Russia on quantity of orphans who are brought up in families.

“Thus the number of children without parental support decreases annually. There were 553 childeren in 2009, 477 orphans in 2010 and only 411 children in 2011,” said the representative of the department.
