Penza, 3 February 2012. PenzaNews. The governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev asked doctors not to prescribe expensive medicine. “Doctors are lured by chemist's networks and it disturbs people who can't receive the recipe on a domestic medicine, in cost below import, and having received such recipe, can't buy the given preparation in a drugstore because it there simply isn't present,” Vasily Bochkarev said during the meeting with heads of chemist’s networks and head physicians of public health services on Friday, February 3.

According to the chief of Federal Service for the Supervision of Public Health and Social Development (Roszdravnadzor) present at the meeting Sergey Kleshchev, the most moderate prices are in so-called drugstores-discount. The head of the region responded that such drugstores sell medicines which must be free for patients in hospitals.

“Instead of providing patients with free medicine, a doctor or a nurse bring this medicine to a drugstore, receive 20 % of its cost and send a patient to buy it,” Vasily Bochkarev declared.

Besides, he criticized the owners of chemist’s chains selling codeine contain medicine.

“You destroy residents of the Penza region, trading medicine caused addictions, such as desomorphine. It is known that such addictions are impossible to cure. We should rescue our people, youth and veterans,” Vasily Bochkarev summarized.
