Penza, 15 February 2012. PenzaNews. The solemn meeting dated to Day of Memory of Russians who served the army abroad took place in the Penza regional philharmonic hall on Wednesday, on February 15. There were representatives of legislative and executive power of the region, heads and members of veteran organizations and also Penza participants of local wars.

The chairman of Legislative Assembly of the Penza region Alexander Gulyakov thanked veterans of local wars and conflicts for their courage and for work with youth done.

“Thank you for monuments to soldiers-Afghans mounted in Penza. It is necessary not for you and not for power authorities it’s important for the youth,” the speaker of the regional parliament said.

The vice-chairman of the government of the Penza region Sergey Zlatogorsky transferred to participants of solemn meeting the greeting of governor Vasily Bochkarev’s who could not be present on action because of business trip and handed over diplomas and thankful letters of the head of region to veterans of local wars.

Besides, chairman of the Penza regional organization Vladimir Holzinev awarded members of the Russian union of veterans of Afghanistan medals and diplomas.

In turn chairman of Penza regional public organization of the all-Russian public organization of disabled veterans of Afghanistan Andrey Sakmaev informed that all plans of “Afghans” were realized in Penza.

“The monument is constructed, the book is published, the hospital for veterans is erected. I won’t speak how we managed to achieve everything it because the main thing is a result and more than that we came from Afghanistan undefeated,” Andrey Sakmaev declared.
