The governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev offered to create positive image of the region through social networks. “There are neither writers, nor poets, neither culture establishments, nor officials of the Penza region in social networks. Nobody is familiar with creativity of local cultural authorities and does not discuss it in spite of the fact that there are many talented people in the region,” said the governor during the meeting with representatives of creative authorities on Monday, February 20.

Vasily Bochkarev cited data of one of sociological polls of students according to which young men practically do not read books and do not watch TV and spend most of time in the Internet visiting “Facebook,” “Twitter,” “VKontakte” and other sources of information.

“They are not lost, we didn’t catch up them,” the governor declared, having objected the art director of regional drama theater Sergey Kazakov who considered new generation of young men lost.

“We are to change the attitude to the Internet and social networks. Each museum, theater or recreation center should have a specialist who would be engaged in promotion of the culture establishment in the Internet. It will increase awareness of the Penza region in the Interne and the youth will be, for example, more interested in the magazine “Sura.” We should choose modern way of work instead of those we used to,” said Vasily Bochkarev.
